Lobster Boat Adventure Cruise from Bar Harbor Maine

Lobster Boat Adventure Cruise from Bar Harbor Maine

Lobster Boat Adventure Cruise from Bar Harbor Maine

Come join us as we depart from Bar Harbor, on our fun-filled sightseeing and educational lobster boat tour. This two hour tour offers an exclusive and unique cruise to enjoy the beauty of sailing in the Hancock area of Frenchman & Flanders Bay, part of the scenic Acadia National Park.

During your cruise, experience a sample of the life and work of the Maine Lobsterman. Learn all about the anatomy and life cycle of the Maine Lobster with the Captain's entertaining and informative style. Watch as the Captain demonstrates how lobster traps are hauled the traditional way.

Seal watching from our lobster boat is especially unique because we slowly and quietly approach the rock ledges where the seals rest at the lower tides. Seals mistake our boat for another of the many lobster boats they see everyday. They are not frightened back into the water and they remain on the rocks so you can delight in watching their activities!

Sightseeing
Our tour on this traditional Lobster Boat brings the prettiest Coastal Maine postcard to life as we cruise. The Captain leisurely guides the boat through Frenchman Bay to show you privately-owned islands close-up. Observe sea birds, bald eagles and other marine wildlife in their natural environment. View beautiful summer cottages along the shores of Mount Desert Island. Possibly see "The Cat", Bar Harbor's high-speed catamaran ferry as she travels to and from Yarmouth, NS. When sea conditions permit, many tours feature cruising very close to Egg Rock Light, one of Maine's most picturesque lighthouses, as the Captain discusses lighthouse history.

History & Folklore
Share the Captain's interest in local history and folklore you learn stories and anecdotes about the area - some factual and some legend. Hear about the Flying Dutchman of Maine, the curse of the Saco River, the night during World War II when a German U-Boat landed two spies on Hancock Point - and many others.

Lobster Boat:
We cruise on a traditional Downeast-style lobster boat that possesses the character and sea-kindliness for which these tough workboats are reputed. The gentle motion combined with the protected routes followed has resulted in a smooth ride during all our years of touring!

Certifications:
Your Captain is fully licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard holding a 100 gross ton Master's License issued October 1994. He is also CPR and First Aid certified by the American Red Cross. With over 30 years experience aboard many different types of vessels, Captain John is more than qualified to provide a safe and secure cruise. Being completely bilingual, the tour can be narrated in English or French. As a retired, professional chef, the Captain may even share a favorite lobster recipe or two!

Safety & Navigation:
U.S. Coast Guard certified as an inspected small passenger vessel and fully insured, the boat is outfitted with modern safety, navigation and communication equipment that meets or exceeds U.S. Coast Guard regulations. On board are: Adult and Child Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) for all passengers and crew, an inflatable buoyant apparatus (IBA) (for protection from the frigid Frenchman Bay waters), life ring, Global Positioning System (GPS), radar, sonar, VHF radio and cellular phone

What to Wear and Bring
Warm clothing is important - although the weather is normally mild, sea breezes are common and can be cool. Items to bring: Sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, cameras, binoculars, snack and/or lunch (complimentary soft drinks, iced tea and bottled water are offered).

Tour does not include hotel pickup. Please reserve online, or call us toll-free at 888-703-2959.
