Come with us to enjoy a memorable outdoor adventure rafting on the Dead River near Bingham, Maine. Whitewater rafting on this 16-mile long, classic, remote Maine river is nothing short of amazing and will leave you wanting more.
You begin your whitewater rafting adventure driving from Bingham by bus into the Maine woods. During this bus drive, don't be surprised if you see a moose, bear, deer, or other wildlife nearby.
Once you get to your raft, you will warm-up then head downstream. The rapids are fairly continuous, and they grow in difficulty as the day progresses. They are rated Class III-IV+, and shift more to one rating or another based on the water level.
In contrast to the Kennebec River, the Dead River is a "pool-and-drop." This means that there are rapids, and then breaks. The rapids are both long and short, and some even have a nickname. For example, one rapid that is about a mile-long is called "Mile-Long." Another notable rapid is "Big Poplars," which is near the end of the run and is the hardest rapid on the river - but maybe the most fun too!
Whitewater rafting on The Dead River will be an exciting and unforgettable experience.
